XXXTENTACION [Birth Name: Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy] was a Jamaican-American rapper and singer-songwriter born in Plantation, Florida on January 23, 1998. His parents were Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy and Cleopatra Eretha Dreena Bernard. His father named him after the song "So Jah Seh" by Bob Marley, which interpolates Ezekiel 34. Both X’s father and grandfather were Rastafarians. In an interview on The Beat in 2017, X stated he also had Syrian, Indian, Egyptian, and possibly Italian ancestry.
X was also born with a ventricular septal defect, commonly known as a "hole in the heart". Due to his condition, he never grew taller than 5’6”.
When X was a child, he discovered his uncle's deceased body hanging from his balcony. He made several references to the incident's tragedy in his songs. In 2017, he also made hints about having been sexually abused as a child by an unidentified adult, and being a lay witness to physical abuse and rape, among other horrific experiences. According to Cleopatra Bernard (X’s mother), X was frequently beaten by his father as a child; she also claimed that he tried to hit her in front of X on several occasions. When X was 6 years old, he allegedly tried to stab a man attempting to attack his mother and was eventually put into a youth program before being sent by his mother to live with his grandmother Collette Jones, and being mainly raised by her in Pompano Beach, Florida, and Lauderhill, Florida moving forward, due to his mother’s personal problems. The reported stabbing incident was refuted by a source close to the Onfroy family, and as X was a kid, police reports could not substantiate it. Experts in domestic abuse and trauma have acknowledged this, but they also say it is doubtful that the story was made up.
Early in 2008, when X was 10 years old, the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a sting operation that resulted in his father, Dwayne Onfroy, being sentenced to 9 years in prison in Arizona on RICO charges. On October 30, 2015, Dwayne was freed from BOP custody and deported to Jamaica in late 2016. When questioned in a 2017 interview about his relationship with his father, X mockingly questioned, "What's a father?"
X became interested in music after his aunt convinced him to join the church choir and then the school chorus. Soon after striking a fellow student for touching him, he was expelled from the school choir. In addition, he went to Margate Middle School, from which he was eventually expelled following several fights. X’s mother then registered him for over 6 months in Sheridan House Family Ministries, where he had started listening to hard rock, punk metal, and rap, which inspired him to pick up the keyboard and guitar. He also went to Piper High School, leaving in the tenth grade. He referred to himself as a "misfit" at the time, pointing out that while being popular and frequently engaged in physical altercations, he was quiet.
X was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a child, and claimed that he wasn't the sporty kind and that, throughout high school, he struggled with depression and insecurity.

On June 18, 2018 XXXTentacion was murdered in a robbery after exiting a motorcycle store. Jahseh went with his step-uncle to bank of America. They then went to riva Motorsports dealership in Deerfield Beach Florida. Jahseh was there as he was considering purchasing a motorcycle for friend and rapper “Trippie Redd” as it was for his birthday.

At 3:56 A SUV block him in and Two masked gunmen armed with weapons approach his window and demanded his Louis Vuitton Bag. His step uncle ran out the BMW to get help. During this exchange Jahseh seemingly confused refused to give up his items and fought against the gunmen. The second gunmen later identified as Trayvon Newsome ran behind to the right side of his BMW to retrieve his belongings and was successful. Jahseh last words was "what this for"? Before the gunmen later identified as Michael Boatwright fatally shoots him multiple times at close bank range. Deerfield Beach Police department later found Jahseh unresponsive in his vehicle and transported him to the hospital. They work on him for a hour. He was pronounced dead at 20. He was laid to rest on June 27, 2018. His funeral was attended by celebrities lil yachty, lil Uzi vert, his best friend and collaborate ski mask the slump God, and multiple fans.
Multiple celebrities paid tribute to Jahseh including late rapper Juice wrld who later died on December 8, 2019 from a accidental overdose at 21.
